Steve Shone1 StarI do not recommend Perkins for dry cleaning. I took a 750 GBP suit (my absolute best suit) to Perkins for dry cleaning recently. The suit was returned covered in some sort of dust (look like a tissue had disintegrated all over it), and felt starched (overly crisp).
I took the suit in the plastic on a business trip so had no choice but to wear it.
When I went back to Perkins a couple of days later and showed them the attached photos (you can zoom in to see the dust and even a hair on the leg in the 1st photo) which I took immediately after putting on the suit post "cleaning", I was told by the shopkeeper that I could have used some sort of lighting on the photos and that I should bring in the suit so he could have a look. I then spent the time to bring in the suit, and then the shopkeeper stated he would do nothing for me (not that I asked for anything) as it had already been worn. It's noteworthy, that the shopekeeper was sitting in the shop watching football, barely paying attention to me as a customer. Amongst other things, I felt the shopkeeper waisted my time and money.
For a business that has been servicing my family for 35 years, I find this incredibly disappointing. Perkins quality and service for suit dry cleaning is poor. In a neighboorhood with a lot of dry cleaning competition, I would not recommend having any garment dry cleaned at Perkins.Sunday 28th April 2024
Leora k5 StarI am absolutely blown away by their services! I rent a basement flat in Belsize Park that has a damp and mould issue. I discovered mould and a very bad odour on all my clothes. I took everything to Perkins (2 large suitcases + 2 large trash bags full) and they were total life savers.
1. They dry cleaned, handwashed, and machine washed based on each pieces requirements
2. They then told me there was still a faint odour so they washed everything again at no extra charge
3. They then delivered everything at no extra cost to my friend's address
4. They gave me a truly fair price considering all of the work involved
5. I noticed my suitcases were missing from the delivery to which they informed me they were cleaning those too since the mouldy clothes had been inside them and they will deliver those separately
This has been an incredibly difficult thing to deal with in my flat, but Perkins truly came to my rescue and showed me and my clothes such gentle care.
My only note is that for updates, I always had to call, but each time I did, everyone was aware of my order and provided great updates!Thursday 6th June 2024
Tallulah Grace4 StarI dropped off a pair of Hobbs boots here to have exterior soles attached. The service at Perkins is very good and they have done an excellent job which stood up well to being worn in London winter. My only drawback is that I wasn’t informed when they’d be ready, and did have to call to find out if enough time had elapsed for me to collect. Will happily return!Monday 9th January 2023
E S5 StarI have been using Perkins for the last two years. Dry cleaning and small clothes repairs, including delicate and expensive items (evening dresses etc). Never had an issue, all jobs have been great. Reasonable price and friendly service. Do no understand the bad reviews.Sunday 26th February 2023
Jennifer Rice3 StarI used the Wash and Fold service for four pounds of laundry. It was ready in two days. The staff are friendly but I get the feeling things are mostly run by one individual, who seems to handle most customer questions and complaints. For example there was some confusion when I called to see what time I could pick up my laundry - it took several employees to find my order and give me a pickup time. Then when I arrived the guy who seems to be in charge had to go off-site to get my clothes and bring them back to the shop. Luckily there is a chair you can sit in while you wait - it took about 10 minutes.
The clothes were clean and smelled good but one pair of underwear had an inch-wide hole torn in the back. They were an older pair so it's possible the material was wearing thin and tore when it caught on something in the washer. Some other clothes were wrinkled, which in my experience means after drying there was a delay of 30+ minutes before they were folded.
The price was high - £25, which may simply reflect the increased cost of energy right now. Despite the front signage there is not free pickup and delivery for laundry - perhaps it applies to other services such as tailoring.
Overall like I said they are friendly but I do think they could be better organised and a little more careful in handling the clothing. I probably will not return to do laundry there because of the cost and instead go to a self-service launderette nearby. I would consider using this business again if I needed something tailored or dry cleaned. To avoid confusion I would make sure I took a picture of the item and the store order label to make it easier to find on pickup.Tuesday 10th May 2022
